Chevrolet today announced the 2014 Camaro Z/28 will go on sale this spring with a suggested retail price of $75,000. Only a single option is available: A $1,150 package that adds air conditioning and a total of six audio speakers. The standard Z/28 package includes one speaker.
Lots of talk of weight saving features in the press release, but I can’t see an actual weight for this. It does have the 7.0L LS7 engine with 505 bhp and 481 lb-ft of torque though, so it won’t be slow, and Chevy are claiming faster lap times around the ‘Ring than a 911 Carrera S (bloody hope so given it’s running with 100 bhp more than the Porsche).
Personally, I’m sure this is a fun car to drive, but if I’m shelling out $75k on a Chevy, there’s nothing in this car that would persuade me away from the Corvette (and that’s the fully optioned L3 trim with Z51 track pack for this price).
