McLaren Ice Driving School

McLaren Ice Driving School

Adding this program (along with comparable Porsche and Audi efforts) are added to my bucket list.

  • Pure McLaren announces its first ice driving experience – Pure McLaren Arctic Experience
  • Set 200 miles into the Arctic Circle in one of the most expansive winter testing facilities in the world
  • The only winter driving experience to feature the McLaren Sports Series

Pure McLaren has announced its inaugural ice driving experience, taking place in January 2017. Set against the backdrop of northern Finland, 200 miles into the Arctic Circle, Pure McLaren Arctic Experience will be the only ice driving programme in the world to offer the thrill of the multi-award winning McLaren Sports Series.

The programme is designed to give guests an extraordinary experience on snow-covered roads and ice track. Like all Pure McLaren events, the exhilarating programme is tailored to the driver’s needs to help them achieve their goals, whether that’s mastering the infamous Scandinavian flick or building their confidence in challenging driving conditions. The team of professional driver coaches from Pure McLaren are working with renowned winter testing facility Test World, a leading proving ground based in Ivalo, Finland, to provide one of the most varied ice driving experiences available. Test World’s expansive grounds coupled with Pure McLaren’s professional drive team provide a safe and secure environment to learn and practice in.

Guests will experience the multi-award winning McLaren 570S Coupé,tackling a variety of track configurations, encompassing both ice and snow surfaces. The exhilaration continues away from the track with Pure McLaren teaming up with local travel provider Luxury Action to offer an exciting programme of winter activities, including a husky safari and snowmobile expedition. Accommodation will be provided in the beautiful Jávri Lodge, the former home of the President of Finland. Here guests will enjoy the very best of Finnish hospitality in a remote location nestled within the untamed Lappish wilderness. Built by Urho Kekkonen, the longest serving President of Finland, it is set amongst vast lakes and forests and is in an ideal position for viewing the Northern Lights.

McLaren 570GT by MSO

Supposedly this is a “concept” but expect to see most, if not all, of the new features available on your 570 options list sometime soon. Although it has nothing to do with performance, I’m kind of excited to see the Electro-Chromic roof in action – the future is definitely here boys and girls.

McLaren 570 GT MSO

McLaren Automotive has released details of the new McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept ahead of its debut on the famed 18th fairway of Pebble Beach golf course at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the world’s highest-profile competitive display of collector’s cars.  The McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept will be displayed on the concept lawn where previously McLaren has displayed many of its concept and future models, not least the McLaren P1TM.

The McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept further accentuates the McLaren interpretation of a GT car.  Previewing a collection of enhancements created by McLaren’s bespoke division MSO which was itself launched at Pebble Beach in 2012, the car is the first example of the recently-introduced 570GT to receive the attention of McLaren’s finest team of craftsmen and designers.  They have added styling, feature and material enhancements such as an Electro-Chromic Roof that are all destined to become available through the MSO Defined portfolio.

Firstly, the McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept delivers an improved aural experience both for the driver and onlookers thanks to its new MSO Exhaust system. Manufactured from titanium and consequently 30% lighter than the standard stainless steel system, the MSO Exhaust takes learnings from the McLaren 675LT project, delivering a progressively richer and more characterful tone more immediately as the revs rise than the standard exhaust.  The MSO Exhaust’s heat shields are also finished in a golden titanium nitride tint, visible through the rear air ducts, which naturally change colour to a blue/purple as the system heats and cools through its cycle.

McLaren F1 For Sale

431192_McLaren F1-50 2

This looks to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a mint McLaren F1 – arguably one of the greatest road cars of all time. In totally original condition down to the correct numbered McLaren F1 book and limited edition owner’s watch presented on delivery, it’s only got 2800 miles on it!

The McLaren F1 is regarded by many as the car which rewrote the supercar rule book. With only 64 roadcar examples built between 1993 and 1998, the original McLaren F1 is one of the rarest and highly-regarded models among collectors, enthusiasts and petrolheads. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) continues to maintain and manage McLaren F1s globally, and is offering one of last ever and finest examples of this highly-regarded model for sale. McLaren F1 chassis #069 is in factory condition, having covered less than 2,800 miles since new.

During 1998, only six examples of the original McLaren F1 were completed, and chassis #069 was the 60th model overall to be hand-built in Woking, England. It is presented in Carbon Black complimented by subtle detailing throughout, including a stealth finish to the 17-inch centre-locking magnesium wheels. The central driving seat is finished in black and contrasting red leather, with the dual passenger seats upholstered in Alcantara®.

McLaren 765LT and Bruno Senna

It’s a match made in heaven

McLaren 675LT Spider

What’s better than a limited edition sportscar from McLaren with a bunch of extra power and guaranteed exclusivity? A topless version of said car, that’s what. So here’s the McLaren 675 Long Tail Spider, likely to adorn the walls of teenage boys everywhere.

There’s only going to be 500 built to satisfy worldwide demand, so if your name isn’t on the list by the weekend, I’m guessing you’re going to be out of luck (but can keep around $500k in your pocket). Full press release and some pics after the jump.

LaFerrari vs P1 vs 918

Clear your schedules. If you have even the slightest like of cars, you need to watch this. You can thank me later.

McLaren 570S

Just in case you were wondering if you should or shouldn’t buy one of the new McLarens, let Chris Harris provide you with some input….

McLaren 675LT

McLaren 675 LT

The LT stands for Longtail, apparently, which McLaren has previously used to identify the (more) lightweight, track focused and higher power models. And so this will sit alongside the 650 in the lineup, rather than replace it.

310794_McLaren 675LT_studio_05

Offered as a Coupé only, the 675LT will be the most track-focused, yet road legal, model in the McLaren Super Series, with a power to weight ratio that eclipses established rivals. The sprint from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes just 2.9 seconds, with controlled torque delivery ensuring optimised traction off the line. Acceleration continues at relentless pace with the 200 km/h barrier broken in 7.9 seconds, on to a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

310798_McLaren 675LT_studio_07

The purposeful driver-focused cabin of the 675LT gives even further indication of track potential. A pair of ultra lightweight carbon fibre-shelled bucket seats, upholstered in Alcantara® as standard and modelled on those in the McLaren P1™, provide comfort and support with no compromise on overall weight. A subtle 675LT logo features on the headrest of each seat, and is also present on the rev counter. In a change to the other models in the Super Series, the air conditioning controls are now incorporated within the intuitive touchscreen infotainment system.

310791_McLaren 675LT_studio_03

The McLaren 675LT will make its global debut at the 85th Geneva Motor Show at 12.15 CET (11.15 GMT) on Tuesday 3 March 2015.

Chris Harris and a McLaren P1

How could this be anything other than epic?

McLaren 650S

mclaren_650s_coupeSo you’re one of those guys who think the 12C is just a little too slow and soft for you, but you weren’t quick enough on the trigger for a P1. You’re in luck, McLaren has the perfect answer for you (well, apart from increasing the production run on the P1 of course). It’s the 650S.

02_mclaren_650s_coupeAvailable in both coupe and spider form (I assume coz they’re using the same carbon bucket approach as the 12C so shaving off the roof doesn’t really impact the strength of the car), it will be officially released on March 4th at the Geneva Motor Show, but there’s plenty of details that sneaked out early.

06_mclaren_650s_coupe_5The McLaren 650S is designed to be the best and most engaging driver’s car in its class, yet it is not a stripped out road racer. Ride comfort and refinement are to executive saloon standards. The McLaren 650S models are equipped with IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio (SIRIUS satellite radio in North America), wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control as standard, while also offering enhanced levels of optional specification than previously offered. Options include fixed-back carbon racing seats, based on the lightweight design found in the McLaren P1™, an electric steering column adjustment assisting ingress and egress, a rear parking camera and extended carbon fibre throughout the interior.

07_mclaren_650s_coupeThe 650S badge designation refers to the power output – 650PS (641 bhp), – of the unique British-built McLaren M838T twin turbo V8 engine. ‘S’ stands for ‘Sport’, underlining the focus and developments made to handling, transmission, drivability and engagement.  Performance figures will be confirmed ahead of the Geneva Show but will improve on the already rapid 12C which continues on sale.

05_mclaren_650s_coupeThe McLaren 650S builds on experience from success on the track, and groundbreaking technologies fitted to other McLaren models, such as active aero in the form of the “Airbrake”. The newly developed system means the Airbrake deploys whenever the car senses extra downforce is advisable – rather than simply under braking or when manually operated in ‘Aero’ mode. Below the Airbrake, a distinctive rear three-piece bumper, similar to the GT3 racing version of the 12C, compliments the aerodynamic shaping of the McLaren 650S.

03_mclaren_650s_coupeAnyway, after being given a taster of some initial P1 reviews, and seeing these pics, I’m going to carry on saving my pennies for a while. This looks like it might be pretty damn close to the top of my list….
