Honda Civic Si

Honda Civic Si

If you really can’t wait for the Type R version to arrive in the States, or don’t have the extra $10k+ it will require to purchase it, Honda will kindly let you buy a nice shiny new Civic Si starting tomorrow. Although the power specs don’t look like much of an improvement over the last version, the fact it’s got a turbo charger in there means much more go from way down low, along with the very real possibility of a big bump with a little mild tuning on the ECU. Anyway, full press release below with all the additional info you might be craving.

The all-new 2017 Honda Civic Si Coupe and Civic Si Sedan will go on sale at Honda dealerships beginning tomorrow with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)1 starting at $23,900 for either the Si Coupe or Si Sedan. The exciting and dynamic Civic Si duo, revealed just last month, are the latest and sportiest additions to the 10th-generation Civic lineup, the most ambitious remake of Civic in the model’s 44-year history.

Porsche Shooting Brake – The Holy Grail is here

Panamera Sport Turismo

Apologies in advance if I get a little too excited about this, but now that I have kids, and am still totally addicted to high performance cars (and Porsche are obviously a bit of a fave of mine ever since I was a little kid), the new Panamera Sport Turismo as it’s called is pretty much my perfect every day car.

Lotus Evora Sport 410

Bond Lotus Esprit S1

Anyone who’s a fan of James Bond will remember the iconic Lotus Esprit casually driving onto the beach after a little underwater adventure. I think it was one of the classic movie moments of my youth, so much so that I even had a model replica of said car, complete with real firing missile launchers above the engine bay that fired tiny orange missiles that were lost to the naked eye of an 8 year old within about 10 minutes of first use.

Evora 410 Sport James Bond

Anyway, it appears I’m not the only one with fond memories of that car, as Lotus has released the Evora Sport 410 decked out in a very similar fashion to that old Esprit. Below is all the official words from the press release, but the important part is that it will come to the US! 🙂

Aston Martin DB11

Quick update: If you want to read an Aston customer review, this is the best I’ve found

I was going to wax lyrical about the sound of a (any) Aston Martin but then they kindly put out a video so I don’t have to. If you’re in any doubt, I want one of these cars.

The DB11 showcases a fresh and distinctive design language, pioneering aerodynamics and is powered by a potent new in-house designed 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Built upon a new lighter, stronger, and more space efficient bonded aluminium structure, DB11 is the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin’s history. As such, it is the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003.

Aston Martin DB11

Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer said: “We aspire to make the most beautiful cars in the world.  DB11 is the absolute embodiment of what an Aston Martin should be and we have worked tirelessly to ensure that DB11 combines both exceptional design with the latest technology throughout. A brand new bonded aluminium platform, clever aerodynamics, a new characterful twin-turbo V12 and class-leading infotainment systems are just a few aspects which make this the sports car that will proudly spearhead Aston Martin’s second century plan.”

2017 Porsche 718 Cayman

Porsche Cayman S 2017 Blue 718

Not trying to turn this into a Porsche site (and I will eventually get to the point of being able to post more regularly), but after the release of the turbo engined 911’s and Boxster’s a while back, Porsche continues the relentless push into the future with turbo’d Cayman’s now as well. Totally expected (given the afore mentioned announcements), but I personally was eagerly awaiting this one for a couple of reasons – I think the light hardtop will benefit hugely in street driving from the extra torque the turbo engines kick out, and for the first time ever, Porsche has decided (like pretty much every other car on the planet), the hardtop (Cayman) should be cheaper than the convertible (Boxster).

Porsche Cayman Grey 2017

This latest iteration builds on the previous appearance update – I was never a huge fan of the looks of the original Cayman, but this (and the previous) iteration look fantastic to my eyes. I’d go as far to say I prefer the looks of these to the new 911’s, and I’m not quite sure (if I had $100k to spend on a new car) if I’d get a tricked out Cayman S or a base 911. Luckily for me I don’t have this dilemma in real life, so until I win the lottery I can hold off on deciding and admire both from afar. OK, ramble over – full press release details after the jump…..

Ford Focus RS – Drift Mode Video

Finally getting a few more details about the much anticipated (at least by me) Ford Focus RS, including the press release today that the first one has rolled off the assembly line and they’re targeted for an early spring launch in the US. That’s all well and good, but what we all really want to see is Drift Mode in action, and those kind folks at Ford have obliged.

UPDATE: Reviews have started to come in and they’re looking good – here’s Evo’s take http://www.evo.co.uk/ford/focus-rs

2016 Turbo Charged 911

It appears once again that rumors of the demise of the 911 were a little premature, at least according to the boys over at Evo today. Check out the video of the quick first impressions, and then take a look at their site later in the week for a more comprehensive review.

Audi A8 L 4.0 Sport

2016 Audi A8 4.0 Turbo Sport

That’s a big title for a big car (but one of my favorite big cars). Audi announced this week their twin turbo sport model of the top of the line A8 with an improved 450 bhp and a bump of other good stuff listed below, for the “bargain” price of just $90k. Ever since Ronin I’ve been a huge fan of the Audi big car, and I think one day when I get rich I might own an S8 as my family car/daily driver (unless the nice Audi people send over the RS6 wagon to this side of the pond). Anyway, enough of the chatter – here’s the full details.

Featuring more power and enhanced luxury inside and out, the Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport model enters the Audi lineup for 2016. The variant of the Audi A8 flagship sedan boasts an enhanced 4.0T twin turbo V8 engine achieving an impressive 450 hp, an increase of 15 hp from the previous 4.0T model. The Sport model also includes a muscular front fascia with larger air intakes for a more commanding presence on the road.

BMW M2 – It’s official

2016 BMW M2 Blue

After months of speculation and lots of guess work, the official details of the M2 is now here. Major upgrades from the M235i abound – check out the details in the full press release below, but here’s a couple of the main ones

  • Power at 365bhp and torque at 343 lb-ft (and overboost up to 369 when needed)
  • Manual gearbox (hurrah!) along with a twin clutch transmission if that’s your deal
  • 0-60 in 4.2 with a top speed limited to 155mph
  • Wider track at both the front and rear
  • Fully variable Active M Diff

So, all in all, everything that everyone was hoping for (at least I think – really, really hoping this drives well). This could be the new M3 in spirit if not in name….
